Maximizing Individual Performance (MIP) is a performance management skill building program for managers, supervisors and team leaders on how to focus the work efforts of direct reports and provide coaching to maximize results. The six independent learning modules can be delivered in “supercharged” staff meetings or workshops, or can be offered as a seminar to quickly get your managers up to speed.
Each of the six modules focuses on a critical performance management skill:
- Building a Partnership The concept of “performance partnership,” what it means in terms of day-to-day operations, and why it is equally important to those who manage others and to individual contributors;
- Setting Goals How to arrive at performance goals and expectations that are consistent with the organization’s business strategies and needs;
- Coaching Performance Effective communication techniques for coaching sessions, including strategies for persistent or difficult performance issues;
- Assessing Results The key steps of an effective performance review and how to avoid common problems;
- Solving Problems Strategies for dealing with common and chronic performance shortcomings;
- Working Together Strategies and plans for on-the-job implementation of newly learned performance management techniques and processes.
Maximizing Individual Performance is an administratively friendly, highly relevant, and cost-effective approach to performance management needs. Most importantly, MIP incorporates a number of elements that reinforce knowledge and apply it in real-life work situations. The Maximizing Individual Performance training:
- Utilizes a learning-by-doing approach to skill development.
- Demonstrates critical skill behaviors via behavior modeling techniques.
- Allows participants to practice and receive feedback.
- Emphasizes transferring “how to” skills back on the job.
